At this writing, The Chedeve Soccer/Leadership program provides for 70 school aged boys - many of whom cannot afford to go to school - by putting them in a weekly practice of playing soccer, respecting each other and learning to create the future together as leaders. After more than a year, this is WORKING!

The program not only makes a difference for the boys, but also has the whole community around them seeing something possible that wasn't possible before, because it was members of the community who asked for a program like this - and they got it!

A big part of the game ir raising $385 a month, which is what it takes to sustain the program as it is right now. This includes two sessions each week with a simple meal served afterwards. It's the first program that impacts a whole community on a regular basis that Kledèv has had functioning for over one year, and it proves that when you get enough people committed to something, it happens! The next step is to solidify some things about the program as it stands (put some things down on paper!) and get ready to expand it so more young men can experience team sports and mentoring that will keep them from joining gangs.

In the months to come, we're also going to add a folkloric dance program for girls so that they can also learn to respect each other and build the future together as leaders.
